Mandatory Gear

For your safety, ALL of the mandatory gear in the below link: 'Mandatory Gear List UTA50', must be carried by each runner at ALL times whilst in the event. The weather in the Blue Mountains can change quickly from extremely hot to very cold and wet and even to below zero and snowing. Be prepared for extreme conditions.

Why are you made to carry mandatory gear?

We strongly recommend that all UTA50 runners get their mandatory gear checked at one of the gear check stores well before the race. Note that it is not compulsory for UTA50 runners to get their mandatory gear checked prior to the race however we do strongly recommend you do this to prevent confusion and a possible time penalty at the race for not carrying the correct mandatory gear. If it is not possible for you to get to a gear check store and you are uncertain about whether your mandatory gear meets the requirements then you may bring the gear in question to the 100km gear check area of Race Check-In at the KCC Auditorium. Make sure to tell the staff that you are in UTA50 and not UTA100.

Between 13th January and 21st October, get your mandatory gear checked at one of the gear check stores in NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD, SA, WA or TAS

Does the gear get checked during the race?

Yes, there will be random gear checks during the event and if you are missing any item you will not be allowed to continue until the item can be replaced. You will also receive a time penalty.
