Mandatory Gear

For your safety, ALL of the mandatory gear in the below link: 'Mandatory Gear List UTA22', must be carried by each runner at ALL times whilst in the event. The weather in the Blue Mountains can change quickly from extremely hot to very cold and wet and even to below zero and snowing. Whilst the course is 'only' 21.6km, it does descend into the remote Kedumba and Jamison Valleys where vehicle and emergency access can take extended periods of time. Be prepared for extreme conditions.

Why are you made to carry mandatory gear?

There may be random gear checks during the event and if you are missing any item you will receive a time penalty.

You are not required to get your mandatory gear checked prior to the UTA22. However, if you are uncertain about whether your gear meets the requirements then you should get your gear checked at one of the early gear check stores anytime between 13th January and 15th May.

If it is not possible for you to get to an early gear check shop and you are still uncertain about your mandatory gear, on the Thursday you can bring the gear in question to the 100km gear check area of Race Check-In at the KCC Auditorium. Make sure to tell the staff that you are in the UTA22 and not UTA100.
