Mandatory Gear

For your safety, ALL of the mandatory gear in the below link: 'Mandatory Gear List UTA100', must be carried by each runner at ALL times whilst in the event. The weather in the Blue Mountains can change quickly from extremely hot to very cold and wet and even to below zero and snowing. Be prepared for extreme conditions.

Why are you made to carry mandatory gear?

All runners in UTA100 need to have their mandatory gear checked before they can collect their race pack at Race Check-In. There are two options for getting your gear checked:

Option 1: Between 13th January and 21st October, perform an early gear check at one of the gear check stores in NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD, SA, WA or TAS. This is the most preferable option to save you time and effort at Race Check-In

Option 2: Have your gear checked at Race Check-In immediately prior to collecting your race pack. This is the least preferable option as it can make your Race Check-In take much longer.

What happens if you don't pass gear check at Race Check-In?

If you fail gear check at Race Check-In, you will need to find a replacement item from a store at The Event Expo or UTA Merchandise Store before you can collect your race number. The Expo, Merchandise and Race Check-In will be open until 7pm on the Friday night.

What happens if you completed an early gear check but forget to bring your certificate to Race Check-In?

The staff at race check-in will be able to look you up in the database and issue you with a new certificate.

Does the gear get checked again during the race?

Yes, there will be random gear checks during the event and if you are missing any item you will not be allowed to continue until the item can be replaced. You will also receive a time penalty.
