COURSE DESCRIPTION

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The UTA50 course traces the second half of the UTA100 course, and does not lack for the beauty or stunning landscapes of its longer counterpart.

You’ll start at Scenic World in Katoomba and be heading along the cliff tops, checking out the breath-taking views of Mt Solitary and the escarpments before you know it.

The spectacular Wentworth Falls is the next highlight after around 25km, before cruising down the epic Kedumba Pass.

The only way is up from there, culminating with those infamous 951 steps and the finish line back at Scenic World!

*Maps subject to change. Select the Time Charts tabs to view the cut-off times for leaving the relevant checkpoint. If you miss the cut-off then you must follow the directions of officials. Please note that in bad weather conditions, cut-offs may need to be brought forward during the event.

KEY INFO FOR UTA50 RUNNERS

All the information you need to know before starting an extraordinary adventure.

CHECKPOINTS

The UTA50 has 3 checkpoints along its route, with differing levels of service and supplies. The UTA50 checkpoints offer you the opportunity to refuel, rehydrate, see your spectators and prepare for the next leg of your journey!

DROP BAGS

A drop bag service will be available which allows you to have your own personal supplies (gels, food, change of socks, shoes, shorts, lubricant, etc.) available at the finish.
Read the rules on drop bags

MANDATORY GEAR

Every runner at UTA will have to carry mandatory gear. The mandatory gear list contains what we believe is the absolute minimum to keep you safe during the event and in the Blue Mountain’s unpredictable weather systems.

START GROUPS

To help congestion on the course and ensure an enjoyable and safe race for everyone, we have a tried-and-tested start group process to match-up runners of similar abilities. Find out more about the start group request process, seeding options and start group times.

TRAINING ON COURSE

A large portion of the UTA courses are publically accessible throughout the year, offering the opportunity to train on course prior to raceday. Please take care and give way to members of the general public when training on course. Some sections of the course are on private land, so please read about these before heading out.

SPECTATORS

We encourage spectators to get out on course and support their runners!

Spectators can see runners at many points along the Ultra-Trail Australia by UTMB courses. We ask that you please respect private landowners and do not cross any private property. If spectating on course, please respect runners and support crews and do your best to spectate in a supportive, safe manner. Any on course spectating (including at checkpoints) can only be moral support – no material or physical supporting is allowed for the UTA50.
