NOTE: THIS EMAIL IS ONLY RELEVANT TO UTA50 AND UTA100 RUNNERS WHO HAVE CHOSEN 'NO-SEEDING' IN THEIR ONLINE ENTRY FORM BUT HAVE ALSO REQUESTED TO START IN A GROUP OTHER THAN THE LAST ONE

Hi,

We are sending you this email as you have chosen 'No Seeding' in your online entry form but have also requested to start in a group other than the last one. We want to make sure you understand that this means you will be seeded into the last start group no matter which start-group request you have chosen if you do not provide an alternate start group seeding option by March 13.

However, there is an exception to this cut-off date due to the fires, smoke and trail closures over the past 2 months. If a race you were planning to use for seeding was impacted by fires, we are able to give you a two week extension to the cut-off date, so you will be able to run in another event up until 27th March. If you would like to arrange this two week extension to the start group seeding cut-off, please email info@ultratrailaustralia.com BEFORE the 13th of March. Use the Subject line '[YOUR FULL NAME] Request to extend start group seeding cut-off to 27th March.’

This gives you an 8 to 10 week window in which to complete either:

  • An ITRA registered trail race such as the upcoming Sydney Trail Series 21km or 30km Events at Manly Dam.
  • A marathon or half-marathon such as the monthly Sydney Marathon Clinic half marathons in Smithfield.
We understand that there may not be any of these races available to you in your local area during this period, so there are a couple of other options you may not be aware of:
  • If you have completed any UTA race in the last 3 years and were happy with the result, all you need to do is change your seeding option in your User Profile to 'Using ITRA Performance Index Ratings' and fill in the two relevant questions. (You can look up your ITRA General Performance Index here).
  • Join our official training partner - Squadrun who provide a start group seeding option. You can take part from anywhere in the world so this option means everyone can have a seeding option no mater where they live ... but you will have to join by this Friday 31 Jan to give time for the coaches to get to know your capabilities.
Please understand that we're not forcing anything upon you... it's absolutely fine to do nothing. However, if you're keen to have your best possible result, please consider these options. Getting as many people seeded into their appropriate start group as possible greatly helps avoid congestion on course.

If you check your User Profile and your start group information already looks fine, please check runners that you may have entered under your profile. Similarly, if your entry was done by someone else, you will need to ask that person to log in, choose your entry, and amend your start group information for you.

We also ask that you please do not reply to this email requesting special circumstances. Considering results that don’t fit into our requirements takes up a large amount of time. Detailed information on start group seedings can be found here for UTA100 and here for UTA50, and please have a read of this PDF which explains the why and how of the UTA start group seeding process.

Thanks very much for taking the time to read this and we hope this information will assist your preparation towards UTA 2020.

Regards,
