Free Event Shuttle Buses

On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday there will be a free shuttle bus service to take runners, support crews and spectators between Katoomba town centre and Scenic World / KCC.

On Saturday there will also be a free shuttle bus service to take runners, support crews and spectators between the town of Leura and Scenic World from 5am Saturday.

NOTE: If you are starting in one of the first three start groups in UTA100 or UTA50, it is recommended that you be ready to catch one of these early buses so as not to miss your start time.

We suggest using these buses as the easiest way to access the event venue.

Refer to the bus timings and operating bus stops in the bus maps below. The buses will be on a continuous loop during their operating times.

  • It is a 10-minute ride from The Carrington Hotel to KCC / Scenic World.
  • It is an 18-minute ride from Fairmont Resort to Scenic World.

Buses to UTA11 Start Line - Thursday

On the Thursday, in addition to the standard event shuttle buses, there will be extra buses to take UTA11 runners, spectators and supporters from Scenic World to the race start at Fairmont Resort.

Buses to UTA22 Start Line - Friday

On the Friday morning, in addition to the standard event shuttle buses, there will be extra buses to take UTA22 runners, spectators and supporters from Scenic World to the race start at Queen Victoria Hospital.

DRIVING ROUTE TO SCENIC WORLD ON THURSDAY & FRIDAY

The following map shows the driving route to access Scenic World and the main event carpark. If driving to the event hub, please follow this route which will avoid the very congested Katoomba St and Katoomba town centre. This route will be sign posted.

SATURDAY ACCESS TO SCENIC WORLD

  • Walk to an event bus stop and catch the free event shuttle bus (see bus maps of Katoomba and Leura above)
  • Get dropped off near either The Carrington Hotel bus stop or the Palais Royale bus stop on Katoomba St and catch the free shuttle bus. Please avoid using the Three Sisters Motel bus stop as that will cause blockages for the event buses. Cars should stay completely away from this section of Katoomba St surrounding Birdwood Ave (refer to the Map of Saturday Morning Road Closures above).
  • If staying outside Katoomba or Leura and needing to drive to the event, park at Blue Mountains City Council chambers carpark, Katoomba train station commuter carpark or around nearby suitable streets such as Station St, Lurline St and Parke St and then walk to a nearby event bus stop on Katoomba St and catch the free shuttle bus. Parking availability will be on a first come, first served basis. Refer to the map showing Suitable Parking Areas on Saturday Morning.
  • Walk to Scenic World from nearby accommodation or via footpaths along Katoomba St and Birdwood Road to Scenic Skyway Eastern station. Then if there is room, catch the Scenic Skyway for free (operating from 5:15am to 8am). Otherwise continue to walk via Prince Henry Cliff Walk to Katoomba Cascades park (making sure to stay out of the way of UTA50 runners who will be on Prince Henry Cliff Walk en masse from 6:55am) and on to Scenic World via Cliff Drive.

ACCESS TO EVENT HUB AT KCC

  • On Thursday and Friday mornings between 4:30am and 9:15am there is a runner drop off zone at the Katoomba Golf Course Clubhouse. From here, people can walk down the side of Acacia St to join the pedestrian route to KCC Oval.
  • On Saturday morning, there is a runner drop off zone in Katoomba St at the front of the 3 Sisters Motel. From here people can walk along the footpath beside Birdwood Ave to the Scenic Skyway Eastern Station and catch the Scenic Skyway to Scenic World and walk to KCC Oval.
  • Walk to Scenic World from nearby accommodation or via footpaths along Katoomba St and Birdwood Road to Scenic Skyway Eastern station. Then if there is room, catch the Scenic Skyway for free (operating from 5:15am to 8am). Otherwise continue to walk via Prince Henry Cliff Walk to Katoomba Cascades park (making sure to stay out of the way of UTA50 runners who will be on Prince Henry Cliff Walk en masse from 6:55am) and on to Scenic World via Cliff Drive.

Parking

PARKING AT SCENIC WORLD / KCC

Please do whatever you can to limit the number of cars in the event hub vicinity. Either use the free shuttle bus, carpool, take a taxi or walk if staying in nearby accommodation.

If you must drive, there is one main event carpark which provide access to the event hub at Scenic World / KCC. This is on grass and is fine for 2WD access in dry conditions. During peak times, when parking is limited, this will have pre-purchased paid parking only.

PARKING AT THE KCC OVAL

KCC Oval Carpark is directly beside Scenic World and KCC and available for pre-purchased, paid parking on Thursday, Friday, Saturday after 9:15am and Sunday. The entrance to KCC Oval Carpark is via 113 Cliff Drive and the exit is onto Cliff Drive at the corner of Violet St and Cliff Drive. A limited number of parking passes are available for pre-purchase until sold out.

PARKING Restrictions

For Saturday morning, refer to Road Closures' page. For all other times parking will not be permitted at any time on the streets surrounding KCC and Scenic World (no parking on Violet St, Oak St, Kamillaroi Rd, Acacia St, Cedar St, Fern St, Cliff Drive, Ficus St, Peckmans Rd or Neale St). We ask all runners and supporters to obey all marshals and 'No Parking' signs. Also take note of NSW General Parking Rules if parking on any other streets. Local traffic police will be doing checks and issuing fines for any illegal parking.
